Fox and 21 Laps have tapped JD Payne and Patrick McKay to script A People’s History of the Vampire Uprising. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Raymond Villareal that will be published next summer by Mulholland Books. It tells the story of a growing pandemic of vampirism though the point of view of a grounded policitcal group of characters.
Payne and McKay are currently writing the next Star Trek film for Paramount and the Jungle Cruise for Disney which will star Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson. The duo has worked once before with 21 Laps, on their first writing job, Deadliest Warrior for Paramount.
21 Laps is involved with Netflix’s Stranger Things, which just got a third season, Lionsgate’s sci-fi thriller Kin, Fox’s The Darkest Mind and the indie film Kodachrome. They also just set up a remake of A Bittersweet Life with Jennifer Yuh Nelson directing and Michael B. Jordan attached to star.
